Mormons Embarrased by Their Own Doctrine

Recently, Mike Huckabee made a remark in an interview: "Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers, don't they?" This unleeshed a firestorm of attacks against him. The Mormons put out an official statement saying that anti-mormons always use this type of retoric to bash them. Mitt Romney flat out said that the idea of Jesus and Satan being brothers in Mormon theology was not true. Problem is...
it is true. Mormons teach that Jesus and Lucifer are spirit brothers, both son's of one of the Mormon gods, Elohim. I say one of the Mormon gods because they believe that there are many gods:"In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it" (from a sermon by Joseph Smith Journal of Discourses Vol.VI, pg.5). However, Mormons, as seen by the reaction of Romney and his church don't seem to want to admit these doctrines. Are they embarrassed by them? Mormonism is not a Christian denomination. It is a non-Christian cult. Pointing out the doctrines of mormons is not an attack unless you feel the doctrines are so crazy you don't want to admit to anyone you believe them.
If that's the case you should repent and leave the Mormon church. If not admit your doctrines and defend them; do not lie about them or try to hide them, as the Mormon Church and Romney seem to be doing.

I am LDS. I am not embarrassed of my church in any way. However, we are very guarded against hostility, because of all the "love" we get from other Christians.
If you sincerely want to learn about our doctrine, you'd better set aside several hours because we will talk your ears off. If you just want to entrap and bash us; sorry, we won't waste the time.

As long as the word Christian comes from the name Christ, then we are Christian. Regardless if you feel we worship the "wrong" Christ.
Call us names if you must, I'm sure the early Christians endured similar treatment.
But I am saddened, by your behavior, that you are a pastor.

Dear Brenda
Thank you for your comments. Being Christmas Eve, I don't have time to properly respond to you. However, I will respond in detail after Christmas- if you are interested. But I will leave you with this for the moment:

"I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But, even if we, or an angel from heaven (that includes the so-called angel moroni) preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed." Galations 1:6-8 The Holy Bible

According to the Bible, mormonism is another gospel, a perversion and those who follow it are acccursed. Something to ponder.

I pray that the Holy Spirit may open your eyes to the truth of God's Word.

It's very interesting that you are rude and unChristian like bashing other religions until someone reminds you that you are supposed to be a pastor then suddenly you turn all sweet as pie. I thought Christians were supportive and accepting of each other and their differences? Didn't you learn that in Sunday School?

Cari,
just saw your comment. I don't think I am rude or unchristian- like. One of the jobs of a pastor is to protect his flock and to take a stand against heresy and apostacy. Two, Mormons are not Christians- they are a cult, so bashing mormons is not bashing other Christians. 3. Debate is a good thing and I have engaged in many debates sometimes heated even with brothers in Christ, but it is good to know what you believe and express it and if I am wrong I am always quick to repent. Something that many would do well to learn.

sorry I misspelled a word on my comment: Apostasy is the correct spelling.

Why is speaking the truth about Mormon doctrine bashing? If I wanted to bash something I would use a ball-peen hammer.
